child counting

Safeguarding our children takes top priority in our school, and all staff undergo a thorough program of safeguarding training to ensure that we provide a positive environment where all children can flourish. We listen to our pupils and take seriously what they tell us. We want to work in partnership with parents to help every child achieve their full potential and make a positive contribution to keeping themselves and others safe.

Our vision statement 'A faithful community that loves, lives and learns with hope and joy, where everyone is valued and encouraged to flourish' is at the heart of all we do and we believe that every one of our children should feel loved, supported and know where to turn if they have a worry.

The procedures that we follow are laid down by North Yorkshire Safeguarding Children’s Partnership and we are supported by Clennell Education who provide safeguarding support and advice to all schools in Leeds Diocesan Learning Trust.

The school has adopted a safeguarding policy which is attached below.

Safeguarding Leads:

If you are worried about a child you can speak to one of our safeguarding leads:

Our Designated Safeguarding lead is Mrs Helen Dudman, Headteacher

Our Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead is Miss Amanda Roberts

Our Safeguarding Link Governor is Mr Ryan Cowley-Sharp

It is their responsibility to ensure that all staff and governors receive appropriate child protection training on a regular basis.

Online safety

There are lots of parent guidance documents and links to useful websites on our online safety page.

Safer Recruitment

To promote a safe environment for pupils, our selection and recruitment policy includes very thorough checks on staff and regular volunteers’ suitability, in accordance with current legislation as outlined in Keeping Children Safe in Education.

Visitors to school

All visitors to school will wear a red lanyard to show the children that they are an approved visitor and will be given a copy of the visitor leaflet below.
