On Tuesday, Years 3, 4 and 5 all took part in an Ancient Greece workshop day, led by Rob from Historic Workshops. The children took on the roles of Athenian and Spartan warriors, taking part in battle formations and tactics used by the Ancient Greeks. The children then trained to be Greek scribes, using papyrus paper, ink and reed pens to write sentences using the Greek alphabet. In the afternoon sessions, the children portrayed the role of Athenian citizens and took part in a democracy, with the aim of managing the city-state of Athens. The children learned that their choices had positive and negative consequences on the happiness, economy, health and security of the Athenian people. To end the day, the children played Ancient Greek board games and challenged each other to these games. Overall, the children had a fantastic day and it was a brilliant learning experience for all, bringing their study of Ancient Greece to life!
