Our Year 1 children had a very interesting day at Skipton Castle on Monday and learned all about medieval architecture. The guide explained that the castle towers are called drums and have a stone skirt to prevent attackers getting in. They discovered fascinating details about how the lord and lady of the castle lived, including the types of food they ate and even how they used the toilet! After exploring the castle, they visited the interactive Craven Museum where they spotted many different Victorian artefacts and had lots of fun dressing up in period costumes
